Wizz Air to resume flights to Russia

Breaking Travel News

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a subsidiary of European low-cost carrier Wizz Air, will resume flights to Moscow in October from its base at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the carrier announced.

A joint venture between Wizz Air and state-owned holding company ADQ, the carrier will operate a daily flight from 3 October, with fares starting from 359 dirham (€95), according to a Reuters report.

The announcement comes more than five months after the carrier suspended all services to Russia following the invasion of Ukraine in February.

Russian airspace remains closed to European carriers, however UAE-based carriers, including Emirates, have continued to operate services to Russia.

In response to criticism, the airline said in a statement that “Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is a national UAE carrier that operates in line with the UAE’s national regulations” and that its Hungry and UK-based operations were still not flying to Russia.
