Overview

Brahmtal, a placid lake in the lap of Himalaya. Accordingly to our mythology lord Brahma meditated at Brahmtal lake. There are few treks in the Himalaya which are possible in the months of winter. Brahmtal trek has all the x-factors which attract all the trek lovers. This trek is an easy to moderate but give the mesmerising view of the Himalaya. On the opposite side of Brahmtal lie the famous Roopkund. Brahmtal Lake nestled at an altitude of 3180 mts. This trek give an extraordinary experience either you do it in winter, spring and autumn. In winter the trek is entirely covered with sown (please note that sometimes you will not find snow as the weather conditions in the higher altitude is unpredictable but most of the times there is snow in the months of late December, January and till mid March). In spring the whole forest is blooming with the beautiful Rhododendron flowers and the whole forest is turned red and pink which is absolutely breathtaking. Beside Rhododendron the forest adorned with conifer, Cedar, Oak and Fir trees. This trek is give us the panoramic view of Great Himalaya including Mt. Trishul (7130 mts.), Mt. Nandaghunti (6430 mts.), Mt. Mrigthuni (6855 mts.) these peak are in most of the time in site during the trek.

The Brahmtal trek route is considered fit for beginners and less experienced trekkers due to the steadily increasing rolling slopes. The maximum portion of the trek is under the forest cover.

Itinerary

Meet and greet at the Rishikesh railway station. An overnight train travel from Delhi could be sufficiently convenient. Be prepared for the long day journey. Though it is going to be a long day but the winding road along the bank of river Ganges, Alaknanda and later Pinder will stunned you with the scenery landscape.
This is going to be a hectic 10 hour drive, despite the marvellous changing vistas of the mountains. For the first few hours, the course of our journey will be running parallel to river Ganga and Alaknanda flowing blustery. Soon, a softy Pindar River will meet our path.
We will pass through Devprayag, Srinagar, and Karanprayag—all celebrated hill stations. Upon entering the last stretch of the drive, near Lohajung, the mesmerizing Nanda Ghunti peak will come to sight. We will reach Lohajung guest house. Upon arrival we shall be welcomed by some hot tea and snacks.

After having our breakfast and short of briefing about the trek we start our trek to Vikaltal. It will take nearly 05 hours to reach out first campsite. The trail going into the forest. The trail continues in mostly gradual ascent curves. There are some small stream which are usually the drinking water for the local villagers. On the clear day we can see the majestic Mt. Trishul and Mt. Mrigthuni. After reaching our camp we will set up our campsite and if someone need to help they can are always welcome to help in setting up the campsite as this bring a bonding between guests and staff (please note that it totally up to your interest).

After breakfast we leave our camp and walk nearly 1.5 hrs steep uphill through thickets of oaks and rhododendrons but our all hard efforts rewards once we come out form the tree to a meadow. This is the meadow of Telandi (3200 mts) In the winter, you will find the green expanse of Telandi transform into a vast snowfield. Once again from here we are accompanied by the majestic Himalaya and they will with us till we take a downhill to Brahmtal. From every point these Peaks have a breathtaking view and its look that these peaks are on stone throws distance. From the ridge we descent to Brahmatal. We will be camping at the mark 500 meter away from the lake, nestling in the beautiful aura of the place.
Note: Make sure to carry 2-3 litres of water on today’s trek since there are no water points on this trail.

Start your day early in the morning as you will be heading towards the Brahmatal lake which is an uphill climb through Oak and Rhododendron trees on the way. The zigzag ascent trail will take us Brahmatal Lake. On a sunny day, the lake looks mesmerise with its beauty and the sunlight makes it look even more artistic. As we ascent toward the pass the nature play games with us it looks like we are almost on the top but after reaching the top you will see another meadow and then the final climb to the pass begins. Once we reach the top our hardship is rewarded with the spectacular view of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti. After spending some time here we trace our feet back toward lohjung. We walk downhill to the midpoint camp. We have intentionally done it as it makes our last day easy and we are not going to miss anything.

After having your breakfast we descent to Lohajung as we have in the middle of the trek therefore for today it is going to be a short day. The trail which we are using is basically used by the villagers to collect the woods and grass it a very beautiful forest filled with Oak and Rhododendron trees. After crossing the forest we shall meet our old route to Lohajung. From here it is only 1.5 hours walk to Lohajung. Upon arrival transfer to the loadge. We shall provide the warm water to everyone so that they can wash themselves.

After a good night’s sleep at our Lohajung guest house, we will go back to Rishikesh today.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek

We shall charge only the services which are paid and non-refundable and our professional charges on the actual basis. This means we will pay you nearly 90% of the payment and if you want to adjust your payment for the next trip then it will be adjusted. But also note that the balance payment for the future tour shall be paid by the client.

Cancellation between 24 days and 14 days to the start of the trek

We will refund you 70% of the payment and if you want to adjust your payment for the next trip then it will be adjusted. But also note that the balance payment for the future tour shall be paid by the client.

Cancellation between 14 days and 10 days to the start of the trek

We will refund you 50% of the payment and if you want to adjust your payment for the next trip then it will be adjusted. But also note that the balance payment for the future tour shall be paid by the client.

Cancellation less than 10 days to the start of the trek

It will be calculated and hence the refund is initiated.

  • This trek can be done throughout the year except in Monsoon. Please note that in winter sometimes of the heavy snow it is not practical to go according to the program in that case our tour leader will assist and will try to do an alternate trek which will have all the ingredients as we should not go against nature. It is to be also noted that not only in winter season but if anything happens such as heavy rain, landslide etc. which is not in our control then our competitive trek leader will assist you.
